Romans Bible Study “Part Two” Coming November 30th!

Welcome to my online study, Part two of Romans, “In need of a Savior.” I am so excited to walk through the book of Romans with you. From November 30th-December 21st, we will be walking through chapters 4&5 of this amazing book. My goal and desire are to work through all 16 chapters! Yes, you heard it right, 16 chapters! This journey will take several weeks, but it is one that I believe will be well worth the work and effort put into it. Do not worry, I will be here with you all the way:

Praying for you,

Encouraging you,

 Learning right beside you!

4 Weeks in Romans

Romans Bible Study “Part Two” Starts November 30th and runs through December 21st. We will pick right up where we left off in the first series with Lesson 11 and work through lesson 15. A Free PDF Booklet of these lessons will be located at the end of this post and will also be available on every blog post in this series. If you missed Romans part 1 and would like the lessons I have a link located at the end of this post for your free copies!

The Purpose of Bible Study

To know God, the One True God. To have an abiding relationship with Jesus Christ and to live a transformed life. To teach the gospel to ourselves so that we grow in grace and truth. To share the gospel with a lost and dying world.

The book of Romans is a clear explanation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As children of the Most high God, we need to dedicate ourselves to the study of His word. It is as important to preach the gospel to ourselves as it is to preach and teach it to a lost and dying world. The Gospel today, just as it was in the day of Paul, is under attack. Only a true and clear explanation of the gospel can refute those who contradict it. I believe Romans is a great place to start.

How This Works:

I will be right beside you! For 4 weeks (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday), I will write a post that I pray will help explain the verses we have been studying through for the week. These posts will not walk through each question. It will give an overview and application for the verses studied.

Prayer, Observation, Interpretation, and Application will get us through this study.

The Lessons:

  • I greatly encourage you to work through the lessons and not just read the posts. This is your time with God. Let Him teach you and train you!
  • Each lesson is written to take you through each verse of every chapter. Sometimes you will be taken to other parts of Scripture to help with the interpretation of the text. Remember, Scripture interprets Scripture!
  • We will also be doing word studies. You may be asking, “Why do I need to know what a word means?” Word studies get us deeper into the word of God. Sometimes we think we know what a word means, and we really do not. It has been my experience that after I have studied a word, I have a greater understanding of what is being taught. I have also learned more and more of the Amazing Grace of God! It is well worth the time and effort to look words up. I recommend using a Strong’s Concordance. If you do not have one, no problem. I have placed a link for one  in the sidebar of this site.
  • Each lesson is designed to be worked through in a week. You decide how you want to walk through the questions. I do recommend spacing the questions out. We do not want to rush through the word. We need to ponder and pray for teaching from the Holy Spirit.
  • Free Lessons: The Lessons are FREE to you! All I ask is that you do not change any of the questions that have been provided for you. They are copyrighted! Please do not sell them to anyone. If you know someone who would like the study but does not have access to the internet  you may download and print them a copy!

 Reading Plan:

I want to encourage you to read through the book of Romans each week. Daily reading will familiarize you with the context of the book. If you read this book weekly, by the end of the study you may have memorized the entire book! How wonderful would that be? You will be able to say with the Psalmist:

“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I may not sin against you.”

Psalm 119:11

Here is a suggested reading plan.  I will be reminding you to read through the book each week.

Let’s form A Home community!

This on-line community is wonderful and will continue as long as the Lord keeps the door open! But God has placed a great desire in my heart for a Home Community! I would love to see groups of women, and young girls gathered around a table, or sitting in comfy chairs doing this study together. A Titus 2 setting ; the Older mature women mentoring the younger women! I believe there is a famine in the land for solid Bible study! I mean digging in the word, the whole word not just bits and pieces of the word.

Would you like to be apart of this community? Please pray about this. God may have already tugged at your heart to start a study in your home. I have a small leader packet to help guide you to lead a group! If you have any questions or would like to go ahead and start a group please fill out this form with your comments and questions! I will get back with you:) God Bless!

Boasting Is Great but only If it Is In God!

Walking Through Romans

“In Need of a Savior”

This post goes along with the free lessons posted at the end of this writing.

Week-8 Day-2

What does it mean to boast in something? The definition of boast is as follows: to talk with excessive pride and self-satisfaction about one’s achievements, possessions, or abilities. It is to brag or glory in something. All of us brag at one time or another; we brag about our kids, our spouses, our homes, our church families… but at the root, the core, of the word boast is PRIDE. I do not know about you but I am sitting here thinking, “Oh, pride not you again.” Pride seems to be involved in everything! At the center of all our sin, I believe anyway, is that self-seeking, self-boasting, pushy, monster PRIDE!

Here is the definition of pride: a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired.

Having pride in something is not necessarily wrong. It all depends on how it is used and the motive behind it. Todays lesson starts in Romans 2:17-24 and I am going to tie it in with Romans 3:1-2. We are going to look at the many privileges  God had given to the Jewish nation and how they responded to receiving them.

{Gospel Grace That Leads to a Life of Godliness~ A Study in Titus 2}

FREE STUDY IN THE BOOK OF TITUS. INFO AT THE END OF THIS POST!

Gospel grace leads us to a godly life. Come join Conforming To The Truth as we do a Bible Study in the book of Titus. Before I started to pen this writing. I went downstairs to change a load of laundry from the washer to the dryer and put in another load. While downstairs  I thought to myself… hum… I need some chocolate.

Ok! I did not need it I wanted it:)  So I grabbed myself a Skinny Cow Chocolate Caramel bar and headed back upstairs.

I am sitting here enjoying it as I read through the second chapter of Titus. Boy, this candy is good!! Sweet and satisfying.  As I read and ponder over the words of Christ I could not help but think God’s word is so much more satisfying, so much sweeter than any chocolate we could consume.  Read what the writer of Psalm 119:103 says, Continue reading

{Male Headship and its Perfect Design~Titus 2}

FREE STUDY IN THE BOOK OF TITUS. INFO AT THE END OF THIS POST!

Did you know that it i God's perfect design for the wife to submit to her own husband.? Join with us as we do a Bible study in the book of Titus and learn about God's perfect design for marriage. In my post on God’s Description of a Godly Woman described in Titus 2. We touched very briefly on male headship. I want to write a post today that goes deeper into this subject. I believe male headship and the subject of submission are greatly misunderstood and twisted, mainly by those who are of this world. But it is also, I am afraid, not modeled and taught in many churches. Feminism has walked right  in the front door of the church and has appeared as something good. Remember what the word says about satan,

” He appears as an angel of light.” 2 Corinthians 11:14

Jesus in my Daily Struggles

girl-843076_1280

I would like to say I do not struggle.

Boy, is that a prideful thing to say! I should be honest with myself and most importantly with Christ. If I did not struggle I would not need Him. Oh, do I need Him… because I struggle with many things.

I believe the biggest thing I struggle with is insecurity. (I am even struggling with insecurity as I write this post.)

Maybe that is why I get angry.

Maybe that is why I do not feel joyful.

Maybe that is why I do not feel loved.

Maybe that is why…

God is teaching me,in the middle of my struggles, who I am in Christ. He is showing me and reminding me that He is  there with me every step of the way.

When I show my anger: Jesus shows me patience. He disciplines me.

Love is patient, love is kind… 1 Corinthians 13:4

My son do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor faint when when you are reproved by Him. For those the Lord loves He disciplines. Hebrews 12:5-6

When I do not feel joyful: He reminds me that He is my joy.

The joy of the Lord is my strength.Nehemiah 8:10

When I feel like no one loves me: Jesus says, “I love you. I gave My life for you.”

But in all things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. Romans 8:37

Christ  loved us and gave Himself up for us. Ephesians 5:2

When I feel like running and hiding: Jesus says, “I Am your strong tower, I Am your shelter.”

The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer. My God, My rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalm 18:1-2

When I struggle with a thought: He reminds me that He was tempted in every way as me.

For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weakness, but One who has been tempted in  all things as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4:15

I was never promised a perfect walk, or that I would never suffer. I am promised that one day when Christ returns to take me home with Him I will be glorified, and never struggle with anything again. But while I am here on this earth I am going to struggle with insecurities and sin.

There is another promise, He says, “He will never leave us nor forsake us.” While we walk here on this earth, learn from Him, be joined to Him, be yoked to Him. He is gentle and in Him we find rest for our souls.

Matthew 11:29-30: Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. My yoke is easy and my burden is light.

Today I struggle, tomorrow I will struggle, but I know that Jesus loves me and that He will see me through each struggle.

When I show my insecurity Jesus says, “You are mine.” My identity is in Him!

Are  you struggling? Do not hide it. Put your struggles in the hands of the one who will carry it for you. Learn from Him. Know that your identity is in Him!

I am praying that God will teach you these things:)

Learning Beside You,

Lisa:)
