Conduct in the Household of God: The Pillar and Support of the Truth

The church is the pillar and support of the truth.

I am writing these things to you, hoping to come to you before long; but in case I am delayed. I write so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, the pillar and support of the truth. 1 Timothy 3:14-15

Do you know what the instructions to the church are? Do you know the qualifications and function of the elder? Join Conforming To The Truth as we explore the book of 1 Timothy to learn the answers to these questions and more. Two things to notice in these verses:

  1. The church is God’s possession
  2. Believers are members of God’s household.

The “church” is not the building it is the people, the true believers that make up  the household of God.  Because it is His church we are to bow the knee to His instructions. True believers may not understand everything that is written in the word of God but a true believer will stand on the truths of the word regardless of whether they understand them or not. We are called for the purpose of contending for the faith which brings glory and honor to our King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, who deserves honor and glory forever and ever. Jesus! Ruler of the Kings of the Earth

clock-772953_1280

From Jesus, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood, He has made us to be a kingdom, priests to His God and Father, to Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Revelation 1:5-6

Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him; and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him. So it is to be. Amen. Revelation 1:7

I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands; and in the middle of the lampstands I saw one like the son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His chest with a golden sash. His head and hair were white like wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire. His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of running water. Revelation 1:12-15

He is our King. He is the Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth. He is coming back soon to set up His Kingdom. Are you ready for His coming?

Through Christ We Receive Gifts to Edify the Church! 365 Days With Jesus

But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Therefore it says,When He ascended on highHe led captive a host of captives, and He gave gifts to men.” (Now this expression, “He ascended,” what does it mean except that He also had descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is Himself also He who ascended far above all the heavens, so that He might fill all things.)  And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to thefullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:7-13

But  each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 1 Corinthians 12:7

Spiritual gifts are given to the believer for the edification and the building up of the Body of Christ. The Church. Each gift is important and Christ has gifted you to work in the congregation He has placed you in. The gifts are not for ourselves, they are for the building up of our brothers and sisters in Christ. The gift or gifts that we have did not come from us, they are given  through the power of the Holy Spirit. Use them according to the grace that has been given to you.
